Volunteering at the Resthome

Think about volunteering at a resthome. I take Grandma to one to visit her friend: this is the second time I have gone there and enjoy it! These elderly and mentally disabled individuals need attention and seem so starved for it. I plan to go back before Christmas and go back every Saturday.

Christmas Weekend Fun!

2011 in Review

Book three is not even close to being finished: I hit my major finally in college and life has not been the same.  However: book two (The Awakening: The Anthem of the Damned) and book three (The Awakening: The Anthem of the Chosen Ones) will be out in March/April of 2012.
My second royalty check should be in the mail this week: keep fingers cross and thank you to those that bought book one for making this all happen for me.
Well, updates on my life are sparse and fueled by regret and much sadness (maybe not that much) I am single again: yes, I am not getting married next year. I have decided that the image of the Cat lady, on top of the hill that lives in the very creepy house, is something I should look into. I am actually relieved it happened now and not after the wedding. Phew!
Still in college: in January 2012 I will be a third year student, so I am almost there! After that I am going for Masters than a Phd. Why not!
Writing is still a passion of mine and days that I am loaded down with homework I sit and daydream that I wish I was writing on book three instead.
We all sit in December and reflect back on the year that flew by us. Lost a couple of friends this year to fighting over stupid things that probably won't matter in our elderly years, but gained much more in the end; real friendships that have endured many years and months.
Still live in this one horse town with no stoplights that drew me out of the city and into the country; now wished I had stayed where I was to begin with.
But, life is all about should have, would have, and could haves. The secret is how you move forward and what did you learn.
I have learned that I love myself despite flaws that others love to point out or monopolize on. And, I don't have to be married to be happy. I have learned that while others without an education don't see the point of a forty year old woman completing her Bachelor's in Anthropology: I get the bigger picture and the prize when I graduate and I never would listen to them anyhow.
Merry Christmas everyone; enjoy what you have and dream of what you don't have but want.
Dreams do come true in the end

Here are pictures I selected this year for the blog: enjoy

Being MIA

Hope that everyone understands that school really has me tied down these days; and being MIA was not intential. I still adore you all and think of you when I am bogged down in books and papers to write. Ontop of it all I am working on book three. Book two and three will be out the spring of 2012 together.

Don't forget to access Twitter and Facebook to find me ever so often on there!

The Ending

Book two to the Awakening series is finally finished. It is called: The Awakening: The Anthem of the Damned.
It was very sad to say goodbye to the characters, yet again. It was even harder to find the correct ending too.
Here is the sample picture for the next book. Tell me what you think!
I'm speaking to an agent soon; she is currently reading both manuscripts and will make her decision afterwards. I'm very excited to work with her.
School is just school. Yes, I failed two courses while writing book two of the trilogy. It happens. You get wrapped up in writing and forget the days, even the date of the days. Forget to brush you hair...and forget homework. However, I will bring the grade back up.
I will begin writing book three next month. Taking thirty days to cool off the brain.
Take it easy everyone and remember: go for your dreams, if you don't someone else will

Yet Another Week

Yet another week has passed. I had another surgery on my mouth Thursday and usually I post a blog on Wednesday, but the day before surgery was hectic. School really has me bummed and I am starting to wonder even if it is all worth the effort. I was told that another failing grade and fafsa will not pay for school again; it will be out of pocket. So, there is more pressure I did not need.
Writing has slowed way down. Too much pressure I believe.
I am to be moving to Georgia soon, another pressure to come up with the money to move. ugh.
Well, not much is going on but the pain in my mouth, late homework, due yesterday, and housework that never seems to get done by me. My roomie has been carrying the load and it's not fair to her.
Otherwise, things are the usual, boring life I lead.
Wishing you all happiness.
Love,
Claire

Wednesday's Blog

Day two of no cigarettes.
Hard? Yes! Especially when all three roommates smoke and it smells so good I want to ask for one. But, my pride refuses to ask them.
Class is done at the end of this week. Thank god, Introduction to Logic sounds easy, but it wasn't. Everything was a scientific formula to Logic. I hate this class and my grade reflects it...a low C. But, hey! It's passing and that is all that matters in the end.
Blog day is hard for me: I'm so boring and nothing to really talk about other than minor details. Like the eight puppies from across the street that are running wild and tearing up our backyard and fence, and other things. I am to go talk to the owner but I doubt that will do anything. I call them the Taliban, terrorist on our street. They sit and wait outside...think they are purposely targeting us. Evil bastards.
The city gave us a citation for the tree limbs piled on the curb of our house by the trash can. Said we had to move them. Yet, they were mostly from the storm/tornado day. There is no where to take them. Roommate says her husband can mow over them and mulch them down. I hope...that's a nice size ticket they want to give us.

Okay, that is all I can think of right now.
See you next week!

Taking Time Off

Hello my friends!
Another great day has practically came and went. I'm a little late on blogging. Taking time off from writing to try to recuperate from being sick all week. Hard sometimes being sick when you have so much that has to be done. Book two, The Awakening: The Anthem of the Damned is almost completed, so taking two days off from writing doesn't hurt me that much.
I spent 2 1/2 hours out in 104 degree weather yesterday and should not have done it but things have to be done to keep life moving. I went to be that night at 6:30pm and did not wake up until 6:00am this morning. Tired.
School...what can I say; it is college and it was not meant to be easy. It is hard when you are 40 years old or even older to go back and compete against kids half your age. However, I am bound to finish!
Home...it is good and I love the little town that we moved too. Everyone is nice and keeps out of your business. Strange, always thought little towns were the opposite.
I am finally 'seeing' someone. Yes, you have heard it here and I am the most happiest about it. My love of my life died in 2003 and I never dated again after that. Now, it seems right to date and I think the love of my life would approve.
I've been laxed on twitter, facebook and my blogs lately; sorry for that. Seems life can throw us curve balls sometimes and we have to adjust to new things, new ways, even new people. Someone reminded me on facebook that without the bumps in the road life isn't an adventure anymore. How true that is.
I'm excited to see the sales report of Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Authorhouse sales of my book in August. Quarterly reports are due around the 27th. I'm nervous but excited. Seems that everyone that has read the book loves it; they report to me on twitter and facebook how much they adored it. So, I'm being optimistic about the coming month of August.
Going back to church again. Planned to go tonight but it is so hot here that I think Sunday mornings is good for me.
Well, everyone have a great week. I will see you here again next Wednesday.
Love you all for the support, encouragement and the great reports on the book.
Love,
Claire

My Life

My life is pretty boring compared to allot of peopleI have met on Twitter and Facebook. So, blogging for me is difficult to think of things to say.
First, I write and write my stories. I'm on book two; half way done for those that have been asking. Secondly, I have school; I am in college for Anthropology, so that keeps me busy as well.
It's pretty boring.
I want to thank everyone that has read the book and absolutely loved it. Thank you for being so excited about it. And, yes book two will be out ASAP, most likely December 2011.
I actually had one person say that she only reads Stephen King novels and after reading my first book she says now I'm her number one author. She's dying to read book two.
This makes me feel so proud of my work that it spurs me to continue to write book two.
So, if you have read the book please post a comment on Amazon for me and tell the world how you feel about it.
Thanks everyone!

Poetry entry by Anonymous

Life crumbles around me
Impossible to gain
A foothold on the proper path
It's driving me insane

A glimpse of fading memories
Of what happy used to be
Now reality has slapped me in the face
I see only selfishness and greed

A death blow from inside
From the one you trust the most
The sickness never goes away
My former self/just a ghost

Severed close relations
No one was spared today
The innocense of children
Are the ones you've hurt now pray!

Twisted sense of reality, has left you all alone
I'll be as kind as possible, learn the lessons I have shown
Take yourself onward, I hope to see you rise above
You'll remember in the end, that all I have for you is love.

The proper steps were taken
The pain just goes along
In time you'll likely thank me
Find comfort in this song

The future for me now certain
Words I thought I'd never say
With new confidence and shimmers
Of warm light will guide my way

Hard choices I've made my piece with
My journey is finally twards the end
With new friendships im encouraged
I'll reap the rewards, lifes dividends

Questions will always haunt me
For the new path that I have chose
With fear, remorse, and consequence
breath new life, the way winds blow

(repeat chorusx1)
Stop
Acustical x4
Lead into grow and shrink
(3/4, 4/4,5/4,6/4,7/4,8--8,7,6,5,4,3)
A song written by "the Crucifer" Chris Fridley.

What is Your Dream?

What is Your Dream?
Do you sit around wondering 'what if' or 'how would I ever become a...'?
Here is my advice: If you have a vision do whatever it takes to attain it no matter what is at stake (legally please).
I have had this dream of writing a book for years and years since I was six years old. I hit every literary agency in America, pounded on every door of every publishing house I could find, with no success.
If this path isn't working for you then there is nothing wrong with self-publishing your work.
If you have the craving to see your dreams in print than self-publish your work.
And, yes there will be typos and some grammar glitches (unless you can afford expensive editors) but that is okay! It's the story being told in-between the pages that is most important. Somewhere down the line you will 'catch' the eye of the bigger fishes in the pond and will be signed!
Even if you don't want to be a writer, let us say you dream of becoming the next greatest NASCAR driver, then pay for the lessons to learn, study the car, read every book, website etc., on the matter; build your own car!
Dream outside of the box and just go do it.
What I am trying to say is this: Life is too short, too fast for everyone to be your critic. Listen and learn, but don't get discouraged; go do what you have dreamed of doing all your life no matter how many people say you can't or someone points out your faults.
Instead of sitting around thinking 'what if', go and grab your vision and listen to your own heartbeat. It will guide you.
So, to those who want to knock someone down for their dreams, who tell others about the 'typos' in someone elses life; please, remember one thing:
They have a dream and dreams are what this nation was built on.
Feelings can and do get hurt; but instead, encourage your neighbor to build that race car, help someone design their designer label line; lift the spirit of someone disheartened over many closed doors. But, most important, love life, love your neighbor and be quiet.
     Dreams are being made.

Amazon and Barnes and Noble

Can't wait for Amazon and Barnes to update their system so both the softcover, hardback and ebooks are shown. Think my team and I are getting the Kindle ready.
Went to the  audiologist today and low and behold I'm getting hearing aides. Got tired of saying "what?" to everyone and I think everyone was getting tired of it too. Plus, with Menier's disease I go in every year for a check up. So, I get hearing aides...wow.
Getting a vehicle this week; can't wait for that to come in.
Busy with book two of The Awakening Trilogy; this one is called: "The Anthem of the Damned".
If you buy the book, read it and love it write a review on amazon and barnes. Please, if you hated it...well, you hate it and that's that.
Have to go; my backyard is still unmowed and needs it before it turns into a jungle.
Thanks to all the clansmen of the Logan Clan for your help! Boxes will be arriving shortly; promise.
If you haven't seen my website go to http://www.cblogan.com
Have a great day everyone!

Excitement Is In the Air

Yesterday we went through some terrible storms. Lucky for us the tornado jumped over us and headed N.E. of our town. I will try to attach a video of the storm for you, but on facebook there are three video's of our 'adventures'.
The press releases and posters came in the email today for approval; they are okay, think I can do allot better.
Four days until the release of the book! I'm so excited. Don't forget that Amazon and Barnes and Noble take thirty days when they upload their information, so you have to order directly from the publishing house. All you have to do is go to my website http://www.cblogan.com click on the link 'Authorhouse' type in my name in the search box and it will lead you to my book.
There is about a hundred books out there called 'The Awakening' so, I would suggest using my name instead when searching for my book. Remember, my book is called The Awakening "The Anthem of the Angels".
Having problems with school right now. Seems papers have been shuffled and misplaced, or the new one; I filled out the wrong forms the wrong way, go figure. As I am now in my major (Anthropology) the classes are super harder than before. Half of it I don't understand and have no idea how I wing it through to make an A or B. Why am I in school again?
My sister, Margaret Cook (you will hear me refer to her as Cookie) and I are loving the quiet, country life. But, we have allot of things to do around her to keep us busy, its just a matter of man power and cash!
Okay! Guess that is it for this week! Make sure you join up on my blog as a follower and check out my new website!

Just Another Day In the Life of...Me

The move to the country was probably more than my sister and I could bite off. We moved withing one week of signing for the house. Cleaned the house in four days and packed an entire household up in 24 hours. We ordered the wrong and smallest u-haul, which was a terrible mistake. We should have gotten the largest. The U haul cost us close to two hundred dollars.
Still unpacking and now the once great spiral staircase leading up to my room is a blasted curse. Its hard to carry boxes up it. So, things have to be taken up out of the box one by one.
But, I love the place. I love sitting on the front porch in our chairs watching absolutely nothing move by except an occasional stray dog or leaf. I love having my sister with me too. Right now, she has her grandchildren with her. They are visiting for a few days and she's having a blast with them.
I haven't written not one page all week in book two of The Awakening series. Been so tired and sleepy.
Stopped at the store and bought my chocolate wine to help...nothing is helping; think sleep is really the answer.
Well, the first book will be out in ten days everyone! Count down has began!

Why Hate is Healthy

For those that think killing Osama Bin Laden and all the rejoicing was so awful; that we should all love each other, and not ever hate...well here is a word to the wise about this:
Hate is a natural human emotion. its a reaction to something either painful or unjustifiable.
I cannot say how I would feel if I had a child or a loved one I could not bury because of the rubble of 9/11; I know I would be angered at the senseless violence.
But, rejoicing that Bin Laden is dead is also a healthy human emotion.
This man will never master mind another attack again; oh sure, another will take his place. But, for every action there is a reaction. For there has to be a yin-yang effect. Good cannot exist without evil and evil cannot exist without good.
Saying to someone that we shouldn't rejoice because someone evil died is wrong. All these emotions is natural, and we want to be 'politically correct' to many times and ignore our true feelings.
So, rejoice, cry, do a dance; it doesn't matter  as long as you are feeling!

Wow! What a wonderful Saturday Ellen (Cookie) and I had. She went and brought her Grandkids home and we had a great afternoon playing and being silly. With the help of Green Social Media Designs (@gsm_design) I made this video for my special sister who is also my very best-friend.
I love you sis!

It's Just Called Lfe...

Life is divided into three terms---That which was, which is, and which will be.  Let us learn from the past to profit by the present and from the present  to live better in the future.
                                                                                                              ---William Wordsworth

So, found this after going through somethings this morning.
Have you ever had to 'share' rides with strangers? Well, I did for the last time this morning. This woman was absolutely out of her mind I was 'sharing ride' with today. Finally, with 2 hours with this woman's complaining, rudeness and craziness, the driver flipped out on her and threatened to throw her out of a moving vehicle!
Strange, I was silently praying during his postal rage; "Please, dear Lord, let him keep his word on this one."
Why must people be like this to total strangers? Do they forget that its legal to carry a gun with a permit? That many people, bullied, pushed to the limit has gone postal on them? What happened to; "If you don't have anything nice to say; don't say anything at all."
I swear to everyone reading this: If that driver had not flipped out on that lady, my purse was going to go swinging like David's slingshot aimed at Goliath's head in that van.
So, after 3 hours, we finally drop the witch off (yes, the one whose sister was found under the house) at her home, and he pulls over in a school parking lot five blocks from where I live. He was so off whack over this woman he needed to breathe.
I get out, smoking a cigarette,(yes, she drove me to it) and suddenly, News 4 van veers into the parking lot, cameraman and reporter jump out and I find myself staring right into the lights of a camera and a mike in my face.
"Can you tell me your opinion about the budget cut your town; how do you feel..."
"Lady," I interrupted, puffing on the cigarette as if I was blowing up an intertube. "I don't even live in this state. But, there's this lady, right there standing on that porch; she has ALLOT to say about everything."
They zoom off around the corner to interview her. Bet they regretted it.

So, in short, what my story is trying to say is: Life is way to short to be mean, ugly, rude and crazy (they have pills for the last one). Booker T. Washington said it the best: "Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life, as by the obstacles which he has over come."

I over came my obstacle this morning and didn't beat up the lady in the front seat.
Are you not proud?

Everything is Going to be Okay

Today at the doctor's I was told my Rheumatoid Arthritis has progressed to 400% and most definitely will be crippled in less than 2 years.
At first I was sad, seeing myself in that wheelchair; but...every things going to be okay. My friends, here, on facebook, twitter, blogspot and email friends have been very supportive and telling me to 'Fight this' as my sister Ellen Cook keeps telling me. She is so supportive.
I've decided to stay here to be with her. I love her so much I can't think of my life without my sister and best friend. She said 'no worries; I will take care of you!'
Life is grand, we better live it, love it, explore it; never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

My First Autograph

Today my sister and best friend, Ellen Cook has been promoting my book like a mad woman! She is so awesome! She was shopping today and I tagged along and she introduced the book to the employees, passed out postcards with the books information on it and then looked at me! These women were so excited to get the postcards and meet me; they asked for my autograph! Two women asked for my autograph!!!
I never thought I would get to the counter to sign the backs of the posters we gave them. My hand quivered as I wrote; "To so-and-so, thank you and all the love; CB Logan"
It was so surreal!
Thank you sis for helping make my dreams come true!

Hello FB World!

I hope this works! Well, if William Green was behind the magic than FB friends, you can see me! Thank you William Green (Twitter @willgreen19) for setting my facebook page up to look wonderful. Those that has been asking how I got my fb page looking this great, ask Mr. Green!

Facebook said they wanted me to identify pictures of my fb friends. Well, some I could and others I could not....not pictures of cars, nor of the Hollywood signs, posters of Justin Bieber and cute babies. So, I was locked out. BUT, good news, they asked me to send a copy of my drivers license to them and I did so it may be another day but will return.

I miss you guys and I am having fb withdrawals! But, thanks to William Green for putting my blog up, to Ellen Cook and William for posting on my wall, I hope no one things I was being snobbish or rude.

Sincerely yours,
CB Logan

The Logan Clan!

Well, just heads up about The Awakening book since it hasn't came out yet (end of April). In the story, we have clans. The Raven clan, which are mercenaries for hire (they are shapeshifters) you have the Wolf clan, (self explanitory really), the Windrose clan (which is the main characters clan) the evil Drakarus clan (Apocalyptic riders) and so forth, and so forth.

I am asking my die hard family, friends, followers and loved ones to help me promote "The Awakening". Here is what I will do in return: I need 30 volunteers, which will be called the Logan Clan (I thought Team Logan but with all the hype about Team Jacob, Team Edward, thought otherwise) these 30 volunteers will get an autographed book, a tee-shirt with your name, the Logan Clan on it, and the VIP golden ticket to the premier party schedualed around the end of October 2011.

So, here is what I need from the 30 volunteers: I will mail posters to you, postcards, ask you to look around for old time theaters with marquees (I will call the number you provide to ask if I can put an ad up there) contact your local radio station, ask them if they heard of the book, give the website address out, go to your library and demand they order the book for others that cannot afford to buy my book, call your bookstores 'repeatedly', have your friends help, asking if they ordered the book; or any ideas you can come up with!

So, are you wanting to be in the Logan Clan? Let me know by emailing me at cblogan71@yahoo.com

Thanks everyone!
Claire Benet Logan

Delays, Delays, Delays

Well, I want to thank everyone for their support and patient with this book of mine. I too am waiting for its release date to be announced. First, it was two snowstorms that hit the mid-west that delayed it the first time, and then the second time, then my person at the pub house went on vacation. Now...who knows. I predict it will be out at the end of the month, maybe the first of April; it would be hilarious if it was April 1st they announce it. Ha ha, April fools joke.
Whatever!
Thanks for the patients everyone!

My 30 Seconds To Mars Fame

Twitter doesn't allow for more than 140 characters; and in this story almost 140 different characters came to my immediate aid. (bless their souls) Here, I can at least tell the story without shorting it or deleting details:
I went for my walk, this time my mp3 player was working for me; downloaded the This Is War album from my favorite band; 30 Seconds To Mars! As I was completing lap 8 around my building, I began singing "closer to the edge" song, and when it came to "NO NO NO!" verse, well, I shouted it with them, not realizing the beauty of the day and everyone had their windows open. Two or three times I sang out loud, lifting my fist into the air (cause I'm stupid that way) and shouting; "NO NO NO!". As I rounded the corner, police cars were everywhere, worried tenants searched for the odd woman screaming "NO NO NO!"
It was embarrassing.
What music does to a human....

How To Get A Free Copy of My Book "The Awakening"! (Read my blog to find out!)

For the next three weeks I will be running a contest for facebook friends only!
Every Wednsday I will post a question, the first two facebook friends to get it correct will win a free, signed copy of my book; "The Awakening".  The winners will be posted on Friday!
If you are not the winner this week keep trying!

AND, here is the twist!
Each week the trival question has one common theme. On week four I will ask what that common theme is: The first ten people to get it correct get the 'golden ticket' to the premier party for "The Awakening" planned in Astoria, Oregon this fall.

If you are reading this on Twitter: Friend me on Facebook to enter contest!
Only facebook friends are allowed to enter.
One person per household please!

With that said; here is the trival question:
During the Industrial Revolution of the 19th Century, what invention ended child labor and what was the inventor's name?

Good luck everyone!

What Valentines Day Has Been For Me....

On February 16th, 2003, my beloved "D" died in my arms after a drive by shooting in Oak Cliff, Texas. Only a handful of people on this earth, since that day, still knows this...now all the world knows my pain.
Like myself, there are many women that never 'let go' of their dead. Mine has haunted me for eight years, and I silently grieve for my lost around Valentines Day...and not to mention February 16th.
Of course I have dated, but always sabotage the relationship to 'feel' better about 'not cheating' on "D"...I even mail a V-Day card each year, addressed to him, care of: "God" and always put my return address on 'just in case' he isn't up there..... (I know it sounds silly)
But, not this year...I plan to move forward, put away his image to the back of my memory of a distant, but painful past.
I don't have a valentines date, nor did I get a card....but its a brand new year, brand new beginnings, and who knows; my prince charming is somewhere out there waiting on me.
I know "D" has passed on to a better and less painful place; I know he wouldn't care if I moved onwards in my walk through this world, and I am going on even if he isn't okay with it, because the day is for the living, the night is for the dead.
So, Happy Valentines Day everyone. Cherish the love you receive, you never know if it will be taken from you in a blink of an eye, on a cold and wet February night.

My favorite poem...

The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
Oh, the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.
 But I send you a cream-white rosebud,
 With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on its lips.

I made the Dean's List at University for Fall 2010!

I awakened to an email informing me I made the Dean's list.
It was 9:30 in the morning, Saturday, Feb 5th. No one is awake...so I prance and stumble, covering my mouth from screaming; "I beat the fat f#%$k that got it last time and rubbed it in my face!"
LOL
So, I went to Amber's room and stared down at her...I couldn't help myself, I shouted the news and she jumped like a cat from her sleep!
Ha! I did it...I finally made the Dean's List!

She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove,
A Maid whom there were none to praise
And very few to love:
A violet by a mossy stone
Half hidden from the eye!
––Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky.
She lived unknown, and few could know
When Lucy ceased to be;
But she is in her grave, and, oh,
The difference to me!
William Wordsworth, 1799
